J. Arden Hopkin (1999 - 2005)

In 1999, Dr. J. Arden Hopkin was appointed as the new Artistic Director. The Board of Trustees approved a shorter name for the choir-Wasatch Chorale. In 2001, the chorale performed Mozart’s REQUIEM in Carnegie Hall under the direction of Jerold Ottley. A CD featuring original arrangements of folk songs and spirituals was released. Concerts were performed in St. George, UT and Sacramento, CA

11 November - By this time, the name has been changed to the Wasatch Chorale. Holds first concert under its new name (Bound for the Promised Land). Promises American music, folk songs, and spirituals.

The decision to change the name came from the confusion between two very similar acronyms in the Utah Valley.  There was the Utah Valley Choral Society (UVCS) and the Utah Valley State College (UVSC).

Still under the direction of J. Arden Hopkin of BYU.

J Arden admired Millett's music and arranging abilities, so he featured a lot of Millett's work in the Chorale performances.
